Hardpoints?

If there's already a topic about this, please delete mine.

In FL there's this target box(don't know what it's called) where you see the wireframe of the ship that you have selected. There you can mark the wings, etc. to destroy them.

So, my question is:
Will there me somekind of "Hardpoints" for frigates or captials? Just like the ones seen in Empire at War.

Points that can be targeted by bombers to destroy important systems of the captial ship such as the shield generators or the sensor globes.
In EaW you can send your bombers supported by fighters to destroy for example the shield generator or the engine.

Every capital ship has hardpoints. Hardpoints can be :
- Turrets : there are up to 32 Turret hardpoints on capital ships.
- Torpedo launchers
- Tractor beams
- Shield generators : unlike turrets, those hardpoints are under the hull. You need torpedoes to hit them.
- Power generators : destroy this in order to disable a ship or limit its firepower and mobility
- Radar domes / radar dishes

The hardpoints are visible in the target view in FL, in the bottom-left HUD console. They'll show whatever hardpoint is selected over a wireframe of the ship.

Not to be patronising or anything but Hardpoints ARE kinda Hardcoded into FL already. xD

I'm sure THIS dev team out of any would be sure to utilise them fully. ;D

I noticed that you are missing engine hardpoints ingame its not a big deal but could be an important aspect in gameplay. Taking out the engines on a ship trying to get away from you (hit and fade or smuggler) could make all the difference.

That's what cruise disruption devices are for (tractor beams, mag pulses, ion pulses). Destroying engines isn't possible in Freelancer and we haven't seen the need to add that in.

ok, i havent figured out how to use that yet, do just need it on while im shooting or do i have to press b while targeting someone?
