I like the fleshing out of the YT-1300. But the Tie Fighters are horrible. They remind me of the work of a first-year student. Or maybe something I might do in SketchUp

Those X-Wings.

I thought they were great. But then I saw the split wings.

Other than the split wing thing they did look good.

The Falcon looks weird without its massive dish too but oh well.

I wish they'd done more to simulate the grittiness of older cameras. The hyper realistic clarity of modern HD cameras really throws off the rugged feel of the universe a bit. Just a nitpick, though.

Last I read, they are not. Apparently, JJ and the directors for VIII and IX want to get the picture as close to the original as possible, by using less CGI and more props and puppets, but, not too close as to look like a 70's/80's film.

If you look closely you'll see it's been replaced with what looks like a square dish.

Hopefully, it'll get a + PG-13 rating but .. that soccer/football looking R2 unit? Meh..

Not getting my hopes up with a ~88 second trailer.

I noticed the square dish. Doesn't mean it doesn't look weird. The rest of the ship looked good though.

Ah I loved the teaser. Stormtrooper dropship looked cool and something (as a lifelong Imperial) I have always wanted to see. The X-wings coming in low and fast reminded me of the X-wing books and that one mission from Rogue Squadron 2. I thought the Cargo speeder looked cool and practical. The Sith looked good and I think his crossguard lightsaber is cool and no more life threatening than the saber-staff while at the same time isn't as stupid as the light-whip, light-club, or some of the other crazy lightsaber variants in the EU while also is better looking than the old EU crossguard lightsaber. Hearing Andy Serkis do a narration like that was cool. And finally who doesn't love seeing the old Falcon flying around and being cool?

Overall I feel thoroughly teased and excited by this teaser trailer and can't wait to see more! Plus the best part about the teaser was the opening shot, as not only does it troll racists (and thats just awesome) but it also clears the misconception that a TON of people who got introduced to star wars from the prequels have, reconfirming that Stormtroopers are in fact not clones.

So yeah, twas awesome and the distinct lack of CGI and lens flares fills me with joy and hope for this new trilogy. I would rate it a 9/10, deducting 1 point for making me wait until next December to see the film.
