New player: launch problem

Hello all,

I played this mod for a short time last year, but my laptop died. I have a new one that is the same specs as before but the game won't run! When I go to launch it gives a couple errors...:

When the launcher starts.
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

at Freeworlds_Launcher.MainWindow.ctor()


When I attempt to launch the game. (flickers a bit then crashes with the error)
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

The application has requested the Runtime terminate in an anusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.


If anyone had any information on how to get past this, I would very much appreciate it! Love this mod, would love to play again!

Please look into your My Documents\My Games\Freeworlds folder for a logs and/or dumps folder. If you have files in there, please zip them up and upload them somewhere and link them back here in a reply.

I cannot currently say why this is, but your crashes seem to point at a problem with SMAA. Turn off your antialiasing option or set it to FXAA and try again.

I think it was the antialiasing. I have finally got it to launch successfully and it has been working fine for me now for almost a week. Glad to be back on, such a beautiful mod! Thanks again!

I've been getting another error since the last big update. says to check my critical error log. i've uploaded it. anyone able to make sense of it? Thanks.

It sounds like your computer is blocking the launcher's ability to use all of its libraries. I've seen one other person with that kind of problem but I've not been able to figure out what was wrong.

The only suggestion I'd have is to manually redownload the launcher (http://freeworldstidesofwar.com/viewtop ... 147&t=2096) and reinstall it to see if it fixes anything.
