Valak Kala'myr

Age: 44
Species: Human
Occupation: Former Mercenary/Bounty Hunter
Homeworld: Concord Dawn, Outer Rim, Mandalore Sector

Born to a single mother on a farm in the plains of Concord Dawn, Valak never met his father, who was killed by mercenaries due to a gambling debt. From ages ten to fourteen, he helped his mother on the farm until she passed away in her sleep to an unknown cause. Over the next year, Valak found it increasingly difficult to maintain the farm, and sold the property off. He took this opportunity to get off Concord Dawn, enlisting with a small band of mercenaries and doing contract work for slavers, pirates, and corporations like Czerka.

A group of twenty, Valak's team was inexperienced and young. Mainly taking security and raiding jobs, there came times when a job would often put morality to the test. The group could never agree on what was right or wrong. Valak often didn't care, as long as he got paid. Some of his comrades spoke ill about his motives, calling him ruthless and calculated. An incident occured when on a mission for a private contractor, a member of the team attempted to sell off the others to slavers. After a lengthy fight on Dantooine, six members of Valak's mercenaries were killed. Valak took two of the more experienced mercs to track down the traitor. A day and a half of tracking by foot lead them to the slavers camp. "Four sentries, and about a dozen inside that tent." Valak told the others. "We take the four quietly, set up some thermal detonators in a line at the entrance, then set up by the tree line and draw them out with some blaster fire. They won't know what hit them. Lets take Dex alive." he finished, and gestured to his two comrades to move up. They eliminated the sentries with little effort, and began to set the charges in a checkered pattern outside the tent, before rushing back to the treeline.

Valak was prone in the grass, keeping his EE-3 rifle pointed at the tent. "All set. Ready when you are." One of the mercenaries whispered. Valak nodded in response, and fired two shots at the tent door. There were several screams inside. A Duros stepped out, and looked around. Valak shot him in the chest, causing the slavers to panic and rush out of the tent. "Nine of 'em." One of the mercenaries said. "Do it." Valak replied, raising himself to a crouch stance. The thermal detonators began to explode rapidly, one after the other, decimating the slavers, destroying the tent, and igniting their munitions. Two slavers were still standing with one wounded. They opened fire on Valek and his companions, who naturally, returned fire. One of the mercenaries was killed before dispatching the last of the slavers. Valak began a slow walk amongst the destruction with his surviving companion, putting an additional blaster shot in the slavers bodies. "Make sure they're dead." Valak told the mercenary, who nodded in response.

Valak stepped into what was the tent, and now a burning mess. Dex was crawling slowly towards the nearby speeder bike, wounded. "Oh no you don't!" Valak grabbed the back of his shirt, lifting him up slightly, and tossing him against some charred crates. "What you did is unforgivable. Betraying your brothers." Valak shouted. Dex just frowned, reaching into his pocket and pulling out some credits, throwing them on the dirt. " The same reason we do what we do. Money. I never expected you to care about the team." Dex explained. Valak pointed his rifle at Dex, squeezing the trigger, but nothing happened. Dex smiled and laughed, but before he could speak, Valak let out a roar, and began to beat Dex to death with his rifle. After he was finished, Valak and the other Merc returned to camp to inform the others.

Around the time he turned thirty, Valak seperated from his shrinking band of mercenaries, due to the increasing death rate of his comrades. Not much is known about his former asociates, but most if not all are believed to have died on other jobs. Eventually becoming a solo bounty hunter, Valak spent three years hunting anything for credits. He eventually wound up signing on with the Rebellion in 1 ABY, fighting the Galactic Empire all the way through the Galactic Civil War, declining promotions and often breaking rank to rescue his fellow soldiers when facing overwhelming odds. While this type of insubordinate behavior was frequent, his superiors never questioned his ability to get the job done.

During the years of the Galactic Civil War, Valak had distinguished himself during several missons prior and after the Battle of Hoth. One such mission being the Attack on the Imperial Army-Navy Ordnance Center in the port of Iziz on Onderon. Valak and a small team were dispatched to aid in coordinating the Onderon resistance groundside, in an attempt to destroy the planetary shields protecting the city. The mission was successful, as twenty minutes after destroying the generator, and holding their ground, Shandor squadron struck and destroyed Jyrenne base, eliminationg sixty-seven percent of the Imperial presence on Onderon. His second, more notable operation was at the Battle pf Kothlis, where he served under Crix Madine in a Commando strike team to recover data from the wreck of the Star Destroyer Motivator, disabled by Rogue squadron in an attempt to rescue the CR90 Razor, which had vital plans on board. Valak was unaware of the details, and fought a long battle planetside to reach the Motivator. Their mission was a success, giving the Rebellion the location of the Death Star II.

After the forming of the New Republic, Valak took a leave of absence and returned to Concord Dawn, as he felt disconnected from his heritage. He spent several months there, reconnecting with his family history. It was there he discovered his blood ties to clan Tenau, and adopted his "warriors code". Spending time tracking his heritage, Valak found himself travelling to Dxun, where he encountered some Mandalorian warriors squatting in the ruins of an ancient military base. He was there confronted by one of his former comrades, Hor Riada, the mercenary that survived the conflict with the slavers on Dantooine. Valak assumed hostilites, and was engaged in unarmes combat with Riada for several minutes before they recognized eachother. " Valak, what are you doing here?" Hor asked, while being held in a grapple. Valak released Hor, and they sat and thought about the past. Valak explained what how he was tracing the history of clan Tenau. Riada had only bits of knowledge on them, but gladly shared them with an old friend. Valak, satisfied with what he learned, shook hands with Riada and parted ways. That was the last time Valak saw his friend Hor, as he returned to active duty in the New Republic and has remained there ever since.

Notable traits:
-Valak is fluent in both Huttese and Mando'a, though prefers Galactic basic.
-While he regularly serves as infantry, due to his experience, Valak has also flown several missions in an X-Wing, though when asked, will comment on the adrenaline rush of killing your enemy with your bare hands.
- Valak has a Concordian accent, similar to that of the Fetts.
- Valak has a deep hatred for the Duros, due to every encounter with one ending in a gunfight or being backstabbed.
