Biography
Tyrell Lorne was born in the shipyards orbiting Kuat, into a matriarchal society. Born to shipwrights prior to the Clone Wars or the Emperors New Order he didn't typically strive for great things, and as it went had an uneventful childhood. His parents continued to work for their meagre living and he went to school achieving the average grades that was expected to a boy of his upbringing this part of the Galaxy. Better off than the outer rim worlds however still restricted to his social class, that is what drove him to join the military. Not the overwhelming desire to do good. Nor a personal lust for revenge. Plainly and simply it was a need for power and status that grabbed at him. As on Kuat social status was everything, climbing the ladder was hard. Even harder for a man and the military was his out.
He had always had an understanding in ships; he had done the experience during his education. Had part time jobs, had seen them during construction and had watched the training and testing exercises before a fleet was declared fit for combat. As such the navy was an obvious choice, choosing to skip out flying a fighter he applied directly for the College of Planetary Security Forces on Anaxes, gaining entry only barely. The classes, hard. The competition, difficult. Yet despite this he excelled, he pushed through and made friends. However tensions were already rising with rumours of the Republics corruption and a growing separatist movement, the battle of Naboo still fresh in the minds of every member at the academy. However the divide began to grow obvious, those of the outer rim were fed up of playing second fiddle and taking a back seat in the politics of the galaxy. Dookus separatist movement appealed to them more and more as time went on, Lorne. Not really a staunch believer in the Republic feeling it was far too liable to failure decided to remain and not betray his homeworld.
War erupted, from Geonosis of all worlds. Rotating around the blasted Jedi, he had always both hoped he could be one for the social status and always hated them. The downright do gooders, who felt that just because they could do a couple of parlour tricks they controlled the Galaxy. The war was evidence of that, education cut short due to a sore lack of officers he was stationed aboard an Acclamator-Class Assault ship named the Endeavour. It was a strange command to say the least, him and all his fellow officers from the Academy had all been separated and instead the crew of the ship were all clones, identical. Not even adults by Galactic Standard. They were supposed to be the best the Republic had to offer, yet they were sloppy in his mind. They were trained from birth to be soldiers, not officers aboard a command ship. However he soon instilled loyalty, he gave them a home aboard his ship and they returned the favour by giving him their respect. Years into the war he would have not wished to have any crew but the one he had that was when he lost his ship, almost with all hands.
It wasn't known until much later what exactly had happened, but in the last year of the war the Endeavour, Relentless and two small cruisers were caught off guard, pulled out of hyperspace in the Yavin System by an interdictor the ships were in ruins before a distress signal could be sent, a drift in an escape pod one of the enemy warships soon picked up Lorne escape pod, and the next few years of his life are lost to records.
When he re-appeared it was for the Rebel Alliance, seemingly turning traitor on everything he had tried to gain. Some say that the Separatist turned Rebel who had captured him had tortured him, brainwashed him and others said that he had been freed our escaped in the outer rim and met a woman. He leaves those who try to guess guessing, giving no credence to rumours. What he knew is he did believe in the ideals, having seen both sides of the coin. He had seen the failing Republic, the fledgling Empire. Simply he took the choice of the lesser of two evils, his parents dead. No surviving family he had naught to lose anyway. He was just another statistic amongst the records of the Old Republic, off a time people would rather forget.
Being "Rebels" he never really made a name for himself, commanding one of the Separatist holdouts old Munificent Class Frigates, with a mix of droid and sentient crew he soon had them beat into the same shape he had te crew of the Endeavour, or as close as he could get. He cringed with the likes of the people who he worked with, pirates and smugglers. Despite this he took to it well establishing connections throughout the galaxies underworld. How else would someone manage to sneak a Frigate around and get it repaired without drawing the attention of the Empire? His first real command came many years later, at the Battle of Utapau. A battle designed to prevent the Imperials from retaking the system that had joined the New Republic after the Fall of the Emperor.
When the flagship of his battlegroup went down he took charge, without hesitation. It is what he had been trained to do, using a feint the Imperial Attack on the right hand side of battle where he was faltered, pushing them back around he mercilessly struck down any Imperials in his path. The ones who surrendered he took no chances, keeping his forces upon them while sending over boarding crews. While many "Defectors" were allowed straight into the military he made sure that their entire ships were emptied of any Imperial Crew, even if that meant waiting for new crew to arive he was taking no chances with any possible insurgency within what was now the New Republic. However he wasn't naive enough to think they had won.
For the next decade or so he kept fighting within the New Republic Forces, eventually changing his old Frigate for that of one of the Mon Cal designs. When the 23rd Outer Rim Defence Fleet was formed he was given command of the Kenobi Battlegroup, taking his chance he sought out the command of the Oceana rather than opting for the biggest ship within the fleet. Feeling that its missile capabilities and small profile made it an excellent, if unsuspecting flagship. As times pushed on he continued on his work throughout the Outer-Rim pacifying and taking over sectors of space and unfortunately being pushed back by the Imperial Remnant.
More recently, testing times have pulled him back to Coruscant, his entire battlegroup being designed to the 55th. Some of their most trying battles against the Imperials in orbit of Coruscant itself. One of such battles the Oceana and her sister ship the Aurora stood outgunned with their support, and when one of the Imperial Vessels launched a volley at a nearby civilian station Lorne placed his own vessel in-between and took the brunt of the blow, allowing the civilians the time to escape. Once he left the Bacta Tank he found a promotion with his name on it, an entire fleet his. While the Oceana remains his pride he has the entire 55th to worry about, and will make sure it stays fighting fit.
